Dear Parents and Community Members:

In November 2002, voters approved Measure G, a General Obligation Bond Measure for the principle purpose to repair and renovate schools of the Tustin Unified School District within the boundaries of School Facilities Improvement District 2002-01.

Measure G passed with over 67% of the voters supporting the initiative. Under the requirements of California law and provisions of Measure G, the Tustin Unified School District organized a Measure G Citizensí Oversight Committee in School Facilities Improvement District 2002-01, which is generally described as the Tustin Unified School District not including the areas of West Irvine (Community Facilities District 97-1) and Tustin Ranch (Community Facilities District 88-1). The Committee monitors Measure G projects to ensure that all bond funds are spent as authorized by the voters, and reports to parents, the community, and the School Board on the progress of the Measure G projects. The Oversight Committee also engages in activities such as receiving and reviewing copies of performance and financial audits, and inspecting school facilities and grounds.

The Measure G Citizensí Oversight Committee must consist of at least seven members serving two-year terms without compensation; members may serve a maximum of two terms. No member may be a District employee, official, vendor, contractor or consultant.

The Committee must include a parent or guardian of a child enrolled in the District; a parent or guardian of a child enrolled in the District and active in a parent-teacher organization such as a PTA, PTO or school-site council; an individual who is active in a business organization representing the business community located within the District; a person who is active in a senior citizensí organization; and an individual who is active in a bonafide taxpayers association.

All committee meetings are open to the public and documents received and/or issued by the group are a matter of public record. The District provided the Committee with administrative and technical assistance.

If you are interested in being a member of the Tustin Unified School District Measure G Citizensí Oversight Committee, please complete an application which is available at the District Administration Center or can be downloaded from the Measure G Website. All applications must be returned to the Deputy Superintendent, Business Services at the District Administration Center, 300 South C Street, by 4 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2007

Sincerely,

Richard Bray
Superintendent
